Always See You Later… Never Goodbye

When Lauren and I initially booked our travels, Fiji seemed a lifetime away. However, it creeped up on us extremely fast and now we are  back from Fiji and staying in Sydney for the final week of our adventure. I guess time really does fly when you’re having fun!

We spent a couple of days relaxing and catching up on our sleep.  As the weekend arrived we began celebrating Lauren’s 22nd birthday! On the Saturday evening we ventured  into the inner-city suburb Surrey Hills for a night of fun with friends & family. It was a great night with lots of drinks and dancing!

On the Sunday, Lauren, I, Stephen and Rach watched television, cleaned the flat and ordered a take-out! Perfect Sunday (maybe minus the cleaning…)

Lauren’s actual birthday was the Monday, in the  morning  we ventured into Sydney for afternoon lunch and cocktails. We are definitely city girls. We ate at the Opera Bar and shared a food platter. It was such lovely food and the view wasn’t too bad either!

We spent the afternoon enjoying ice-cream and walking round the harbour as the sun was beaming down on us! An amazing  birthday for Loz, not sure that many people can say they celebrated in Sydney! We took our final tourist pictures of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House!

That night we were still celebrating and enjoyed a feast of American-Mexican food in Manly. We wish we had spent more time in Manly because apparently it is an English hub with a great atmosphere. Maybe next time!  We said goodbye to Manly with these fabulous cocktails …

Luckily, our last week in Sydney coincided with Sydney Vivid: a light festival which projects an array of multi-coloured lights on to some of the world’s most iconic buildings. It was extremely impressive. Therefore, we ventured into Darling Harbour to watch some street theatre, enjoy Lindt hot chocolate (yummy!) and enjoy the lights!  The pictures do not do the lights and exhibitions justice but here are some of my favourites!

I didn’t take the above picture  I found it on Twitter and thought it was amazing! However, I did take this one! Impressed…

This really was the perfect end to our three months of travelling..(not that we wanted to admit it was coming to an end!) We have shared the most amazing experiences and met some great people along the way. It was emotional leaving our home away from home in Sydney and it was slightly depressing looking at the weather forecast we were going to be greeted by in Manchester…but there is no place like home!

Australia you were a dream come true…until next time!
